What is CAT Percentile?
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the entrance exam for India's IIMs and other top B-schools. Instead of raw scores, results are reported as percentiles — the percentage of candidates who scored below you. A 99 percentile means you performed better than 99% of test-takers.
Formula
Percentile and rank are two sides of the same coin:
Percentile = ((N − rank) / N) × 100 Rank = ceil((1 − percentile/100) × N + 1) N = total candidates who appeared Example: rank 2,300 of 2,30,000 → 99.0 percentile.
How to use this calculator
Choose a conversion direction, enter your rank (or percentile) and the total candidates who appeared in CAT (around 2.2–2.4 lakh in recent years). The calculator converts one to the other instantly. Indicative only — confirm against the official CAT scorecard.
