What is Land Area Converter?
India uses many land units. Modern property deals quote square feet, square yards or square metres, but rural and agricultural land is still measured in traditional units like bigha, biswa, katha, guntha and cent. The catch: bigha, biswa and katha vary by state, so always confirm the local conversion before a transaction.
Formula
All units are converted via square feet as the base:
1 sq ft = 1 1 sq yd = 9 sq ft (gaj) 1 sq m = 10.7639 sq ft 1 acre = 43,560 sq ft 1 hectare = 1,07,639 sq ft 1 cent = 435.6 sq ft 1 guntha = 1,089 sq ft 1 bigha ≈ 27,000 sq ft (state-dependent!) 1 katha ≈ 1,361 sq ft (state-dependent!)
How to use this calculator
Enter the area you want to convert, choose the source and target units, and the result updates instantly. The reference panel also shows your input in acre, bigha, cent and hectare. For state-specific bigha/katha values, confirm locally.
