What is Retirement Planner?
A retirement planner helps you estimate how much money you'll need for a comfortable retirement and how much you should save regularly to achieve that goal. It factors in inflation, expected returns on investments, and your current financial situation to project your retirement corpus.
Formula
The retirement planning calculation involves several components:
Future Expenses = Current Expenses × (1 + Inflation Rate) ^ Years Until Retirement
Recommended Corpus = Future Monthly Expenses × 12 × Retirement Period
Each investment is projected using its respective formula:
- EPF: Monthly contributions with compound interest
- PPF: Annual contributions with compound interest
- NPS/SIP: Monthly contributions with compound interest
- FD: Monthly contributions with compound interestHow to use this calculator
Start by entering your personal information including current age, planned retirement age, and current monthly expenses. Then, input your expected inflation rate. Next, enter your monthly or annual contributions to various investment schemes like EPF, PPF, NPS, Mutual Funds, and FDs along with their expected returns. The calculator will project your total retirement corpus and compare it with the recommended amount.
