What is Step-up SIP?
A Step-up SIP (also called a top-up SIP) increases your monthly mutual fund contribution by a fixed percentage each year. As your salary grows, so does your investment, which dramatically boosts the final corpus compared to a flat SIP — without straining your finances.
Formula
Each year's monthly SIP grows by the step-up percentage:
monthly(year y) = monthly × (1 + stepUp/100)^y For each month, the contribution grows at the expected return for the remaining months: FV += monthly × (1 + i)^(months remaining) where i = annual rate / 12 / 100
How to use this calculator
Enter your starting monthly SIP, the percentage by which you'll raise it each year, the expected return, and the duration. Even a 10% annual step-up can grow your corpus far beyond a flat SIP.
